What does it mean to love God and how does one love God?

The gospel of John is the only book that describes John as “the disciple whom Jesus loved” (John 21:20 NKJV). Written by himself, John expresses his consciousness that Jesus loved him.

Jesus loved all the disciples equally however; John’s consciousness of Jesus’ love changes everything. This causes him to explain the love of God more eloquently than any other apostle.

Since God is love, you cannot claim to love without the existence of God. Therefore, you have to be IN God in order to love, even to love God Himself!
Some might ask: ‘How can we even be IN God?’ Being aware of God’s love for you will ultimately make you love God. This will help you experience victory in all areas of your life, as all has been conquered through love. For example, during the greatest battle in human history i.e. at the cross, Jesus fought it with love and He conquered all through His love for us!

He does not love us because of our righteousness. He does not love us because we loved Him first, but He loves us because we are His. He loved the “hell” right out of us! The true measure of His love for us is that He loves us beyond any measure. Our minds are not adequate enough to comprehend the love that God has for us and His love never fails at all!

I find it funny how we preach to one another about love from 1 Corinthians 13, but yet we forget that it reveals the true nature of God! God thinks no evil of us! God is not provoked! God has hope for us and will never stop doing so!

Nothing will ever separate you from the love of God –not even if you try to. You will eventually wear yourself out trying to do so. Do not let even the slightest thought that He does not love you cross your mind.

Now that we are conscious of God’s love for us, we can now begin to love God. That is the most important step you have to take in loving God. You want to be bold and brave? Remember God loves you and love Him back in the same manner.

It is impossible to not be brave and bold while you abide in His love. Through love, you know that God is with you and God is not a ‘wimp’!

Therefore brethren, let us walk IN love as we are born of love and be confident wherever we go that He loved the world with all its imperfections in order to make us perfect through love. AMEN.
